How beautiful is this? I’ve been looking for some guitar driven music to love and coming up short. This is right up my street and I love it. Coco are … well, nobody know’s too much really. Their ‘about’ section on Spotify doesn’t give much away either. Have a spin through the 3 tracks and let us know what you think.

Sufjan Stevens – Video Game
It’s difficult to know what I really expected the next Sufjan Stevens song to sound like following the epic 12 minute+ ‘America’. The track list for the new album dropping at the end of Sept. was shared recently showing that ‘America’ will close the 15 track album out.
This track ‘Video Game’ will feature as third track on the album. And it couldn’t much further from America. The video features Tik Tok sensation Jalaiah Harmon performing her viral ‘renegade’ dance … which doesn’t really fit but of course in context does. How did that conversation go ‘Hey Jalaiah, do you want to star in a music video for a song about not wanting to star in music videos?’
For the avoidance of doubt … I love this.
Róisín Murphy – The Time Is Now (Live From Later…..)
How could I love Róisín any more, pt. 381847. (I know it’s Jools, but still) ♥️
Brother Guy …
Please tell me you know this …
It’s 21 years old. Ouch.
Khruangbin – Time (You and I)
I know it’s been everywhere, but this is such a wonderful, summery record (and the video is ace too). Album is out, perhaps an AOTM?
12mins 34 seconds of beauty …
This …
Ibiza, eh.
Remember going dancing? Remember Ibiza? Remember 2007, Brother Nolan? I DO.
PS. the tune is a monster minimal techno banger called Duoteque – Logo. OOF:
Marchin’ – Theophilius London
Don’t know much about this dude, though he’s clearly been knocking around for a while, and his new album has everyone from Tame Impala to Raekwon to Arial Pink on it, so I guess he’s the man.
Anyway, this is just a lovely slice of summer.
SUGGESTION: Let’s see if we can find enough summer tunes to make a playlist, huh?
Clams Casino – Instrumental Relics
I’m not sure if you’ve all come across the name Clams Casino before? He’s a hip-hop producer that while not single-handedly, was massively responsible for huge shifts in the direction of the genre. He produced beats for Lil B, ASAP Rocky and Soulja Boy, yep, a bunch of artists I know next to nothing about or if I am honest care for that much. I remember at the start of this blog a mini-album he released was nearly an AOTM choice form me … I can’t recall why I didn’t choose it.
I’d be lying if I said I’d followed his career closely but he’s continued to produce high quality instrumental hip hop since. And has now gone back to early recordings and mixtape tracks to curate an album of ‘instrumental relics’ including instrumental versions of some of his better known productions for Lil B and Asap Rocky.
The album, given this genesis, is surprisingly coherent. It hangs together beautifully. It’s great for working too. But more than anything for me, it shows how much better his music is than 99.9% of the musical-prozac-blah of the 8hr long spotify instrumental playlists designed for ‘focus’ or ‘study-beat’s etc. This is the sound of an artist blowing most of his peers out of the water.
Here’s a little glimpse into how his music sounds standalone vs. with Lil B …
How did I miss this?
This song is now 20 years old and I only (think) heard it for the first time this week. What’s not to like about De La and Chaka?
